“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” – Joshua 1:8 (NIV)
A cardiologist once hired a consultant to help him recruit a general practitioner for his practice. He had read that the trend was moving toward increased funding for general practitioners and away from specialists, so he decided that he should have a good GP on his staff.
The consultant began her work by meeting with the staff and asking, “Who are your patients? How do they become your patients?” She discovered that 87 percent of the cardiologist’s practice came from referrals made by local general practitioners. Armed with this fact, she asked him, “Do you really want to replace 87 percent of your business the day you hire your own GP?” The cardiologist turned pale at the thought.
This man, a brilliant physician, was on the brink of making a mistake that could have cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars, because he based a business decision on what he had read in a couple of magazine articles rather than on solid research of his clientele.
Many people run the same kind of danger when they neglect to base their lives on solid research of the truth. The greatest way to get the advice that you need for life, and on into eternity, is to read the Bible daily. Base your life on solid research of the Truth. God always knows where you’re going and He can tell you how to get there!
